Hey My Cheap Gxng 😊
Welcome back to my blog, I hope you guys have missed me as much as I’ve missed you! I must apologize for my delay in posting, I’ve had quite a busy week and a half (you know trying to become a female entrepreneur in Mzansi is like trying to win the lottery…in Mzansi).
Okay! Enough of my excuses, I’m back and I want to get everybody ready and loved up for Valentine’s Day (and if you don’t celebrate this fake holiday pretend that you do like me, so you look normal okay…) Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get right into what this post is about.
We all know how all classic love stories start, boy meets girl (or boy meets boy or vice versa we are all inclusive and believe in equality here at The Cheap Girl) and they fall for each other, cute? Right? No, it’s not because we live in super hard times and jobs and money are hard to come by so being coin savvy is key. I know I just killed the romance but hear me out, we all want to enjoy the finer things in life but sometimes it’s not easy or remotely possible because the budget does not allow you to have nice things or to be happy in general.
What can be done to fight and take back your power and right to live your best life? Well, buckle up because I’m about to tell you!
^How to Be A Cheap Date^
Step 1: Let go of all your perceptions of what being “cheap” means and look at it as a new way of living a fabulous life on a budget.
Step 2: Whether you are in a committed relationship, still looking or happily single but “snacking” …you can’t be too good for finding new, fun and affordable ways to do this dating life thing.
Step 3: Make apps like Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, other blogs and GOOGLE your best friend. Think of them as that friend that is always putting you on and has your best interests at heart. You can use these apps to find ideas, places and experiences in and around South Africa and beyond. With ideas you can become creative and adapt them to making them work in your current situation.
Step 4: It’s not about a grand gesture or trying to “impress” the other person, it’s about creating memories, it’s about the little things, it’s about enjoying the now and being in that moment. So, whether you decide to cook a romantic dinner at home and decorate with affordable décor you picked up at a local store (my go to is always China Mall) it’s the thought that counts.
Step 5: Make use of companies that use specials, discounts or vouchers. These are vital in having amazing experiences for less. Check out the apps and sites I suggest below to start your journey to becoming a cheap date 😊
Hyperli – This site basically offers consumers discounts and vouchers on a variety of activities including weekend getaways, spa treatments and dance classes. You can find so much on here and really save. It offers activities for single people to groups (https://www.hyperli.com/)
TheEntertainer – This app is available to everyone for a subscription fee monthly (if you’re an FNB customer however you do not have to pay the monthly fee). Now this app is a bit pricy, however if you look at the savings you get from the different options and places you can go to it’s worth it (https://www.theentertainerme.com/home/Cape-Town?language=en&check=)
ThirstBusters – This app allows you to order alcohol online, via WhatsApp and through the ThirstBusters app at super affordable prices. They have a long list of beverages, snacks and other condiments you can order, and have it delivered to your doorstep (https://www.thirstbusters.co.za/en/)
I hope this post helps you begin your journey on becoming the cheap dates I know you are LOL. Thank you again for taking the time to read this and I hope to see you soon on the next episode of Dragon Ball Z *just kidding*
XoXo
